Anything important takes effort。Fishburne is important。Here are the graduation requirements - from your rough load and JROTC participation to our grading criteria and our all-important study hall。What you won't find here - but we want you to feel every single day you're here - is our total trust in you and the effort we make every day to bring out the best in you。

Diploma option

Fishburne offers three diploma options: the 23 credit Academic Diploma, the 25 credit Advanced Studies Diploma and the 22 credit International Baccalaureate for non-native English speakers。The International Baccalaureate does not require credits in foreign languages。

JROTC participation is required

All high school level students at Fishburn are required to take one unit of JROTC each year。These subjects count as elective credits for graduation。In addition, all students must fully take standardized tests。

About our school year

The academic year consists of two semesters, each consisting of two grades。Major tests are performed at the end of each assessment period。

Typical student course load

Depending on the student's transcript and test scores upon arrival, the student's schedule may deviate from this typical plan。 JROTC counts as elective credit。Visit the courses for more detailed information about the advanced and honors level courses offered。

In order to fully prepare students with a solid academic foundation before they begin to meet graduation requirements, Fishburne offers the following seventh and eighth grade programs:

High school graduation requirements

Fishburne offers three diploma options:

Minimum course requirements

Starting in Grade Nine (9), to receive the FMS Diploma, participants must have earned a minimum number of credits in approved courses, assigned as follows:

Reports and rating scales

All grades on the FMS report card have letter grades。Grade reports are sent to parents at the end of each grading period and at the end of each semester。Grades are provided weekly by the student's advisor and are made available on the Internet through webclasses。

Honor Roll

The Honor Roll is published at the end of each grading period and at the end of each semester。The Distinguished Honor Roll recognizes a grade point average of at least 3.5 Students with grades of at least B。Grade point average of at least 3.Students with a grade of 0 and at least a C are on the Principal's list。

Study hall

Helper class
Forty minute help sessions four days a week。Each student can volunteer for one-on-one help or work on assignments for the course。

Study hall
Supervised study rooms are held every Sunday to Thursday evening。Cadets can study in the library (Monday to Thursday) or in their barracks rooms。During this period, it is permitted to hire (school-approved) tutors on campus。The study rooms are supervised by TAC officers in the barracks and an instructor from the library。
